john palmer
[br_filters attribute=product_cat cat_propagation="1" type=select]John Palmer graduated in Piano Studies from the Conservatory of Music in Lucerne, having undertaken courses in composition with Edison Denisov and Vinko Globokar. Returning to London, he undertook postgraduate studies in Composition at Trinity College of Music and completed a PhD in Composition at City University in the early nineties. Further studies included composition with Jonathan Harvey and conducting with Alan Hazeldine at the Guildhall School of Music. He was active as a composer and pianist in different musical genres until the mid-eighties when he began to focus on instrumental, orchestral, vocal and chamber music, as well as electroacoustic music. Since the early nineties Zen, and Buddhist philosophy, have become an increasing source of inspiration. His compositional techniques vary from work to work, from the application of vigorous methodologies to the most spontaneous unfolding of musical ideas based on pure intuition.
